The State News

Michigan State University's Independent Voice

As one of the first college newspapers to have a website, The State News takes its online presence very seriously.

As Creative Director of Online Design and Development, Ryan led The State News' most ambitious online redesign to date. With a new site layout emphasizing readability, accessibility, and social media promotion, the redesigned StateNews.com has become one of the most highly-trafficked college newspaper websites in the country.

Powered by the Gryphon content management system, StateNews.com conforms to HTML5 and CSS3 standards. There's even a mobile version for students on-the-go.

MJS Studios

The East Coast's Most Established Photo Studio

With an aging website, a broken backend infrastructure, and database problems up the wazoo, MJS Studios contracted Ryan to design and develop an entirely new website, powered by a custom content management system and client communication framework.

Utilizing cutting-edge front-end open source technologies and a brand new backend, the relaunched MJSPhotoStudio.com conforms to the strictest of web standards and has graced the screens of countless customers searching for just the right photography studio.

Lilac Template

A Fully Skinnable Website Template

Originally a proof-of-concept template for the Perch Content Management System, Lilac has evolved into a mature website framework able to support a wide range of client requests. With a fully skinnable design capable of displaying a full spectrum of color themes, the customization possibilities are endless - something clients truly appreciate.

Lilac validates to HTML5/CSS3 specifications and degrades beautifully in older browsers. Although the site renders admirably in webkit and opera mobile browsers, a version designed specifically for mobile devices is in the works. Stay tuned!
